Happy Friday, friends!! This week has been busy starting new projects, which means I've been scheming and sourcing up a storm... my favorite part! But, I realized I hadn't really posted any completed design work lately, and wanted to change that before we head into the weekend.
This design was fun, since it was sort of a departure from my usual style, which I'd say is usually pretty casual. This design was intentionally going for more of a formal look, yet one that still felt light + airy.
Sandra, my sweet client, was looking for a put-together, elegant space that would be a calming + welcoming retreat after a long day at work. She was drawn to coastal colors, but didn't want the space to feel particularly beachy or coastal, and she wanted some rustic accents/finishes, yet wanted to keep the space sophisticated. Here's what I came up with:
I created a neutral base with the area rug, sofa, armchair and tables, then layered on soft coastal colors through the pillows and artwork. The tables and console add a hint of a rustic, industrial edge, while the soft colors keep things feminine + pretty.
I also suggested accessories that would further compliment the soothing color palette:
Sandra's kitchen and dining area flows right into the main living space, so it was important to carry the color scheme and overall look/style throughout these three areas, keeping it cohesive.
I'd say the overall affect is definitely soothing, and I'm so happy Sandra is pleased with the results!
Happy Friday, friends!
