Don't you love when you come across a space, and can immediately tell a certain designer was responsible? There are a handful of designers that I can think of where this is the case, but perhaps one of the most obvious for me is Emily Henderson. Every single room designed by her has a distinct "Emily" look to it, despite the fact that she works with all types of clients, in all types of houses, with all types of styles. I definitely admire that about her - that she has such a clear point of view and "signature look".
Anyway, when I came across this image, I immediately thought "that looks like an Emily Henderson room"... and what do you know? It was! After checking out the whole feature on Country Living, I had to share because the whole house is just gorgeous:
This guest bedroom above is the space that immediately tipped me on the designer - the blue velvet headboard, mixed with the brass lamps, bronze sconces, and the colorful tassle bedding just screamed Emily to me :)
The living room is just so cozy and happy. The blue velvet chesterfield sofas look soo comfy, and the rugs and pillow mix give me major textile envy ;)
I love that Emily highlighted the orginal windows by painting the frames a dark charcoal gray throughout the house... it's a nice contrast that showcases the windows beautifully.
I love that blue is carried throughout the whole house, including into the kitchen, with these blue-gray cabinets and the rug. And how about that black and white arabesque-style tile for the backsplash, and those awesome concrete floor tiles? Swoon. So perfect for the Spanish architectural roots of the home.
In this dining space, the blue sideboard is a great statement piece, and I love how the striped rug modernizes some of the older elements, too. I do kind of find the seating mix to be a little distracting, though - Obviously, Emily pulls the eclectic look off well, but I sort of wish those Windsor chairs surrounded the whole table.
This is such a great little reading nook, with the comfy leather club chair and cozy dark blue walls.
And finally this patio space, which is such a perfect outdoor oasis. It's so very Southern Californian, and so cozy and inviting, yes?
All in all, another gem of a house by Emily - I just love how it feels simultaneously light + airy, yet really collected + layered at the same time, without being too busy.
