I've been a huge fan of Kilim rugs for quite some time now, and realized I hadn't yet done a round-up of them... so of course, this had to change!
Kilims are flat woven rugs produced anywhere from the Balkans to Pakistan (thank you, wikipedia), with Turkey being one of the largest producers of them. Coincidentally, or maybe not so coincidentally, Istanbul is on my top ten list of places I want to visit, and I secretly dream of wandering their bazaars, staring at all of the beautiful rugs, and finding some kick-ass kilims to bring home. Ah, it's the stuff of dreams.
Anyway, I love that authentic kilims are completely one-of-kind, and add great texture, color, and graphic elements to a room. They also add that old, vintage feel to an otherwise modern space, giving it more substance, and more of a layered, eclectic look.
Here are some of my favorite spaces with Kilims:

What are your thoughts on kilims? Anyone else dream about exploring Turkish Bazaars in search of the perfect rug?
