I've been admiring these plush, graphic rugs for quite some time. They're made by the Beni Ouarain and other neighboring tribes in the mountainous Berber region of Morocco. I love how plush and cozy they are, but I'm particularly smitten with the graphic and organic quality of the designs on them, with the most common pattern being a diamond-shaped check. Interestingly, they were originally used as blankets, not rugs, and since they're handmade, no two are exactly alike.
Here are some of my favorite spaces with these beautiful rugs:

Although the authentic rugs are way out of my price range (I'm the classic champagne taste with a beer budget kind of girl!), I was excited to see two affordable versions from West Elm and RugsUSA on sale recently. Over the weekend, RugsUSA was having a 75% off sale on them, and I couldn't pass it up. So now I'm pretttty excited to get my (faux) Moroccan Rug in all its plush, pattern-y goodness!
Are you a fan of these rugs, too?
